space Two diametrically opposed hotel concepts encounter one another. The sleeping-cum-living room to be found in most western hotels, for use by one or two people, now offers accommodation for a whole group (of up to nine people, in the main unknown to one another). Cultural imprints, on the one hand the Asian "group I" and on the other the western "individual I" and the concomitant need, particularly in the intimate realm of sleep, to be able to withdraw - even into a minimal space - are concentrated. To unite these intrinsically different sleeping chambers is an appealing idea, so that their individual characteristics are brought more strongly into focus. space 2000
