displaced In the space, the contours of a room have been set up. When you enter this room within a room, you will register a slight movement of the cube. Due to the minimal use of material in the structure’s edges and the slight oscillation, the illusion of a solid and protective room is created. As in the work "You", Dellefant describes a room. The viewer is encouraged to re-experience this, to define its scope and to gauge its limits. This installation can be sensed and experienced by both viewing and engaging with it. "Displaced" thematizes the surrogate home that of course does not offer asylum seekers the security and familiarity of their own country. They are not rooted in, nor have grown up with, the new surroundings and the people. In addition to this, the provisional and delicate materiality of the surrogate house reflects the insecurity of the refugees with regard to their return and their future life. The unstable and fragile construction of the room also highlights the insecurity in which foreigners live in Germany at present, as we can only with difficulty offer them protection from racist attacks.
